This is the delicately handcrafted money bank illustrating part of the story of Jemima Puddle Duck by Beatrix Potter. In the story, Jemima is tired of not being able to nurture her eggs into hatchlings whilst she is on the farm, so she goes off in search of a new nesting spot. The Money Box shows Jemima with her wings-outstretched in mid-flight. Her trademark blue bonnet and pink shawl are forced backwards in the wind. Beneath her, the thick green grass is adorned with brightly coloured flower petals, making the overall image very beautiful. The base of the Money Box is curved so that it rocks from side to side and gives the appearance of Jemima's flying motion. This piece is both functional and decorative, and for Beatrix Potter patrons, it makes a wonderful collector's piece.
